“We came here because we love the people and socialising…”
“…but people here don’t like that we have asthma.”

Not metaphorically. Not figuratively. Literally.
You are offended by oxygen.

“I can’t speak in person verbally enough to explain all of this…”
“…so I am confused as to how to communicate with anyone if no one wants to read my emails.”

Dear Kirsty,

A forwarded thread. An institutional snub. A decision not to read.

“I can’t speak in person verbally enough to explain all of this…”
“So I am confused as to how to communicate with anyone if no one wants to read my emails.”

That’s the point, isn’t it?
You don’t want communication. You want disappearance.
You want silence dressed as compliance, disability rewritten as inconvenience.

“We came here because we love the people and socialising…”
“…but people here don’t like that we have asthma.”

London promised connection.
Instead, we were handed interrogation—oxygen-policed and socially misread.

And then came the official closure:

“We would be grateful if you do not copy us into any further emails.”

There it is.

But unlike you, I file it.

“I’d love to go to therapy, but no one will provide adjustments for my disability needs…”

It is not a matter of willingness.
It is a matter of access.
And I am not the barrier.

“This limits my ability as well as my kids’ ability to integrate into the community at all.”

Yes—because exclusion is not always locked doors.
Sometimes it’s a silence that arrives after your request has been read and dismissed.

“It is not our problem. It is your community’s problem.”

Correct.
Because we are not malfunctioning.
We are misunderstood.

“You keep expecting us to behave like people who don’t have a disability—and we can’t.”

This is not noncompliance.
This is incompatibility with your ableist expectations.

Your mental health support is a maze with no ramp.
Your "inclusion" requires performance.
Your "care" comes with a voice-based entrance exam.

“Someone needs to call the mental health practice and help them understand…”

Until then, you’re not offering therapy.
You’re prescribing trauma rehearsal.

That is not defiance.
That is the documentation of exclusion.

Not a lack of willingness — a lack of access.
Not refusal — obstruction.
A blockade made of unacknowledged needs and verbal tyranny disguised as procedure.

“This limits my ability as well as my kids’ ability to integrate into the community at all.”

And yet, the blame lands on us—
As though exclusion were a matter of attitude, not architecture.

“You keep expecting us to behave like people who don’t have a disability, and we can’t.”

Can’t, not won’t.
That difference defines the law.
Your refusal to grasp it is not a misunderstanding. It is a violation.

“Someone needs to call the mental health practice and help them understand…”

Indeed. Because until they comprehend communication that does not rely on breath and noise,
therapy is not therapy.
It is a performative corridor of pain, lined with clinical ignorance.

You do not get to say I “declined support” when no support was ever offered in an accessible form.

Dear Kirsty & Colleagues in Selective Incompetence,

I wrote:

“Your hospitals refuse to treat us when we go to A&E due to ignorance about asthma.”

And I meant it.
They don’t fail to treat — they punish us for presenting.
Their protocol is disbelief. Their attitude is sanctioned negligence.

“You all refuse to provide adjustments when we are compromised verbally.”

This is not a misunderstanding.
It is a coordinated refusal. A tactic. A weapon.
What you call policy, we experience as entrapment.

“I can’t explain my perspective.”
“No one will give me the hospital’s perspective, and I’ve been asking for this for an entire year.”

A year of silence.
A year of being ghosted in writing while suffocated in person.
And what do I get in return?

Lies from St Thomas’.
Lies smoother than breath. Lies with laminated name tags.
Lies told in fonts of faux concern.

This isn’t miscommunication.
It is institutional contempt — cleverly disguised as clinical decorum.

You do not get to call it support when it’s silent, slow, and strategically cruel.
